Parenting is an adaptive process which makes sense within a specific context, i.e. space, time, culture, economy. The goals of a good childhood is to supply children with the tools to successfully participate in activities deemed desirable within a specific culture and the psychological benefits which go along with that. This research shows how mothers looking for protection in Ireland endeavour to reach this goal.
