Europe's population is transitioning to an ageing society, where positive aging in the 'right' place (Marquet and Miralles-Guasch, 2015; Golant, 2015; Fang et al., 2016) should become a prime constituent of policy. Urban inequality has been exacerbated by fiscal constraint (Buffel and Phillipson, 2016). Ireland's Atlantic corridor (Galway, Limerick, Sligo) has struggled to emerge from austerity whilst undergoing demographic shift to an older population (SCC, 2015; GCC, 2015; LCC, 2015).
